The Netherlands-based company, Terberg Benschop, constructs special roll-on/roll-off tractor units that are used at container terminals in South-East Asia, amongst other locations.
Terberg’s customer wishes to capture the vehicle speed signal in analogue format, in order to use it to operate a fleetmanagement system. A short time after the first installation, it turned out that the specifications of the original vehicle speed signal did not fulfil the requirements of the application itself. The speed pulse was unreliable and the signal frequency was too high for the application connected to it. In order to be able to provide a reliable speed pulse with a frequency that the system was able to use, an Automatic Pulse Interface (API) from Beijer Automotive was installed.
