Assistance of the driver with speed behaviour, is therefore a crucial tool to prevent accidents. Navigation systems do offer speed information, but have little impact on the driving behaviour and do not offer feedback concerning the driving behaviour. Since speed information is available through several channels (traffic signal detection, speed-limit map, open government data, traffic sign databases), this can be applied as an ADAS-system (Advanced Driver Assistance System) in vehicles. In this case, ISA offers far-reaching assistance or even dynamic adjustment. With speed offences, there are systems that advice and give an auditory alarm (open ISA), adjust the speed (half open ISA) and even limit (closed ISA). ISA as a principle, has been proven to be an effective solution for behavioural change many times and receives support at a European level, yet the success of ISA remains very limited with individuals, companies and governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project \u201cISA in practice\u201d aims to take the next step and shall outline a clear image of the possible Return-On-Investment (consumption, damage, accidents) for companies as well as the social (traffic safety, emissions, quality of life) and ecological (fine dust, CO2-emissions) impact. Therefore, the focus is not only on a technological ISA-demonstration, but also applies on theoretical- and real cases in agreement with several stakeholders. The project intends the successful introduction and upscaling of ISA and related solutions in concrete applications based on real-time speed assistance\/-adjustment for the driver as well as reporting the driving behaviour for a fleet operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Term<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The project has a term of 11 months.<br>Start date: 01-01-2018<br>End date: 30-11-2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project partners<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ixor<\/li><li>Beijer Automotive<\/li><li>V-tron<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>FOD Mobiliteit en Vervoer (BE)<\/li><li>Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer (BE)<\/li><li>Departement Mobiliteit en Openbare Werken (BE)<\/li><li>Vias Institute (BE)<\/li><li>Antwerp Management School Smart Mobility (BE)<\/li><li>The city of Helmond (NL)<\/li><li>The province of Overijssel (NL)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The role of Beijer Automotive<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For Beijer Automotive the project is of importance, since they can deploy their knowledge on vehicle sensor data through the CAN bus, the ISA application enables to do this In-car. For this, Beijer already has a CAN-to-Bluetooth interface under development that could offer a perfect solution. Furthermore, the strategy of Beijer Automotive is to deploy vehicle sensor data for traffic- and weather warnings in which an open, big data platform Vetuda\u00ae has been developed. The historical traffic data that is necessary for ISA can be combined with real speed data of the vehicle and the actual road speed data through Vetuda\u00ae, whereby all components for ISA can be made available for the driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cars that are being used for ISA can be connected with the Vetuda\u00ae database, through which they can generate anonymous data that can be used for traffic and weather warnings. The warnings are interesting for parties such as Rijkswaterstaat (first practical test is running as we speak), but for companies such as Flitsmeister (part of the CEMSS project) as well. Simultaneously, the ISA solution perfectly fits tractors since they also have a CAN bus variant. The speed limiter is very well usable in this situation for autonomously driving tractors in precision farming.
