The so-called CHARM-project, initiated by the English and Dutch road authorities Highways England and Rijkswaterstaat, has entered its third phase. Where phase two focused on prototyping and demonstrations, phase three focuses on the Proof of concept. With the presentation of a certificate in Birmingham the third phase officially started.

It is now up to the team of Beijer Automotive to show that the vehicle sensor data from which weather conditions can be derived (use of fog lights, wipers, brake behaviour, etc.) is presented on the operator’s screen as desired, enabling him/her to give also warnings based on local weather conditions.

During the presentation of the certificate the CHARM promotors praised that Beijer had shown that it works, not only on paper but also in practice. In addition, they appointed the availability of vehicle sensor data as a strong point.
