This universal CAN interface with 3 outputs was specifically developed for integration with the Smart Tacho 2 (G2V2/SMT2). From July 1, 2026, this new-generation tachograph will also be mandatory for light commercial vehicles (>2500 kg) transporting goods internationally. We previously wrote about this in this article. Due to the stricter requirements for trip logging and data exchange, reliable vehicle data is essential. The BCI-TACHO translates CAN bus vehicle data into a speed signal for the tachograph via the M1N1 and KITAS sensors.
